How Taking Time For Yourself As A Parent Improves Our Mood

wpid-20140913_115421.jpgAs a parent, there are often so many responsibilities. This includes preparing my daughter for school and watching my son. I love helping them but have learned how important it is to care for myself.

This afternoon, my mother offered to watch my children for two hours. I chose to use this time to find a great new book at my local library. I am on my way to play basketball to have a healthy workout.

I meet many who feel guilty for taking a break. They are always doing for others, but neglect their own needs. I have had many clients who have shared this common feeling. When you take a few minutes to hike, do yoga, play a sport or read you are honoring your life. This may help improve your mood and allow you to become a better parent.
